Create Reflection

Create Reflection:

Create has prepared me to meet each of the following standards by giving me the opportunity to create lessons that I would normally not always do.  I've learned various ways to use technology in the online environment.  For Standard B I was able to learn about different tools to help manage time better.  Since I work with primary grades, this tool is better suited for the instructor. Learning how to create a content map was different.  As a classroom teacher, I often use chart paper to create maps/graphs to create the content. Using a computer made it easier actually.  I look forward to creating more content maps with my students as we begin new units in the classroom.  Standard C was about learning the different tools and how to use them in an online classroom. This was very helpful to learn new strategies to use.  Kahoot! has been one that I've used for quite some time. I've used Kahoot games that others have made as well as made some of my own games depending on our units of study.  Standard E was very informative about the legal side of using resources. I hadn't ever been told anything about online copyright, just paper, etc. :) This shows how long I've been teaching.  I am more aware now of just how important it is to follow copyright laws.  Standard K was beneficial to play around with the different tools and learn how they all work.  I used Google Classroom, but have backed off of it since we are not allowed to use our computers quite as much this year.
The most beneficial lessons to me as an educator were the appearance lesson and the web tools lesson.  Websites are often looked at by their appearance. To me, that is the most important because it is the first thing a person sees.   My students love when we use games in the classroom.  We are able to use them for  learning, reinforcement,  or use them as an assessment. Students seem more engaged and involved when they think we are just having fun when actually they are learning.
After working through this create module I now have several new teaching methods that I can now incorporate into my online classroom.  Since a lot of what we use in the traditional classroom setting is scripted, I am looking forward to being able to include various ways of teaching.  By using games, interactive slides, and content maps I feel that I will be able to engage my students and keep them interested in learning.
