Students must have meaningful feedback in order to grow as a student.  It provides a dialog that students may use to grow from.  Constructive feedback can be provided from both the instructor as well as their peers.  Positive feedback from the teacher encourages and motivates the learner to keep working.  I think this is a great way to get your students to do their best. Young children want to hear they have done a great job on their work. Students will work for praise, pencils, and much more.  As a teacher, my feedback has an impact on how the students meets course goals and has a large impact on overall learner performance outcomes.  When students self-reflect, it helps them understand where they are and what they need to do to improve.   Students may also give feedback to the teacher.  This can help the teacher assess the course content and make adjustments where needed. I tell my students that I am learning all the time as well.

Writing Rubric After a writing assignment, the student needs to complete the rubric and attach it to the assignment.  After it is graded, the teacher will make comments back to the student.

I feel like I discuss this a million times a day. "Use a capital letter and punctuation" has been said by me too many times to count.

Students will record themselves reading aloud. Students are working on reading fluently on their level. Students enter Seesaw and pull up the assignment to record themselves.  As you can see below, parents who choose to sign up for the account can see their child's work. This is a grandma that takes care of this student. She was so happy to see that she had noticed her work and  put a heart sign. Artifact: Create an outline or lesson plan of a 30 minute synchronous session which you would facilitate.  What activities would you include?  What transitions are needed? How might you use the session as a formative assessment? How would your session build a learning community among your students? Synchronous Learning allows instructors to facilitate discussions, lectures, work collaboratively with a small group, or meet individually with students.  It is a lot like being in a classroom, but at your location of choice. Students and the teacher can communicate like you are there. This is a great way to communicate with them and actually see if they understand the skills being taught.  Students can communicate with the teacher if she chooses to use features like screen sharing, chat boxes, blackboard and many more.  The following are guidelines to use a synchronous session successfully.   1.   Plan all sessions and keep them simple and ...

When using the online discussion forums, they are usually reflective.  I like how students can read comments from their classmates.  This sometimes helps them think about what they want to write about.  I personally have a college daughter, and I've seen how she has used it in her class. She is one who doesn't like attention drawn to herself. I feel like she can communicate with her classmates and teacher and show them what she knows about the topics presented.  Students participating in this type of discussion are more active participants in their learning.  One way that wouldn't be beneficial would be those that ask simple questions that don't produce ample feedback from students.  A few best practices would be: 1. Have clear directions for how to respond to others comments. As an online instructor I plan to use the announcement section in Seesaw to send out important news items to my students and families.  This is a great way to communicate with families since this will be their daily platform I plan to use. Remind is also another great way to communicate with families and share important news items.  Students and parents can both sign up through using a text message or they can opt to get remind emails.  Teachers can send out due dates, upcoming assignments or special announcements all at a moments notice.
