Navigate 2 - Tools for Deciding on an LMS
I am so excited to learn that while researching tools for an LMS, I found out that SeeSaw is the perfect LMS for primary students. My students love this program, as well as parents. First of all, it is a free program. SeeSaw allows students to record their learning and easily share it with their teacher. Parents sign up and see their child's work. Many have asked how often will they be working in SeeSaw. They want to see what is going on in the classroom. They feel like they are more connected. They can even comment on their learning. I've had parents type back to their child saying we are going to work on reading at home each night. I think it is a great way to show parents active learning. It is also a great way to show parents how they grow throughout the school year. Another great reason to use this program is for the differentiation that it provides. We are always being told to show how we differentiate our students. Administrators can easily see how students are learning and how we differentiate with their work. It's all there for everyone to see. My teaching partner next door is now using it after seeing how much my students love it. They love when I assign a reading passage. They can play it back and hear themselves reading. They want to improve each time by enunciating more and reading more fluently. They enjoy seeing themselves as well as their classmates. I've noticed that students fluency has began to show a big improvement in their scores by using this program. That is such good news! Students can also take pictures of things and make a diagram of it. There is so much to do with this program for early childhood students and teachers. Students do not have to remember a login code (praise). They just sign into their account. All of my students have access to their chrome book. I have never had to send a message to our tech support for help in this area. For that I'm sure they are very thankful. SeeSaw has many training and webinars for teachers to access for questions or to learn something new to do with their students. You can also often find new ideas from teachers posted via Twitter.
