Participate 4 - Digital Rights and Responsibilities


All students have the right to access technology in our school building. However, there are still responsibilities for teachers and students to ensure an effective and safe learning environment.  Our system uses a variety of methods to ensure students safety. They have added positions for technology personnel to provide support for teachers at each grade band.  At the system level, they have made improvements to the internet filter and our firewall system to ensure safety of student data.   Our system makes sure we have an MOU (memorandum of understanding) with any programs we choose to implement in our system. 

 We as teachers have to model good practices to our students. We have open discussions about online safety. We model daily as we use our technology tools in the classroom.

Create 1- Time Management 1.     OneNote   OneNote :   This tool is used by first creating a notebook one OneNote. You can then write notes to keep your data organized. OneNote makes it easy to find the notes you have written making it easier on yourself. This tool would be most helpful in a professional setting. When doing work for your job, you can make easy to find file folders taking some stress off of yourself. This would be perfect for students and or professionals doing research projects. I feel like I could use this from an instructor standpoint. Navigate 1 - Screen Capture

Navigate 1- Screen Capture I used the Screencastify chrome extension. This would be great to use in an online classroom because I can show them exactly how reading phrases fluently should be done. Many students still read like a "robot". We are trying to help them read like we talk. Using this program allowed me to show the powerpoint and read it so they would have an example. When students are out, they can look online where I post work and be able to continue from outside the classroom. Here is a link to my video.
